Regulars get a Real Ale treat

From the Wirral Globe, first published Wednesday 4th Apr 2001.

WIRRAL residents were able to get a real drink at the Crown Hotel in Conway Street, Birkenhead, on Saturday.

The Campaign For Real Ale (CAMRA) served free samples to regulars to encourage people to try cask condition ale as part of their 'Ask For Cask' campaign.

Ashley Standidge, chair of Wirral CAMRA, said: "We want to convince beer drinkers that nothing beats a pint of real cask ale in a local pub. If people start drinking the taste and shun big brand marketing, the British beer market will be safe for future generations to enjoy."
