Pupils star in film to beat the bullies

From the Wirral Globe, first published Friday 24th Mar 2000.

A NATIONAL anti-bullying video 'starring' local schoolchildren had its premiere last week as Wirral schools take another step to beat the bullies.

Former Brookside actor Paul Usher appears with pupils of Park High School, Birkenhead, in a new video which will help children deal with bullying and encourage them to talk about it.

Produced by the media company CVT and Wirral council, the video It's Good To Talk now goes on release to schools all over the country after its first showing at Park High.

Educational psychologist Val Besag, education chiefs and Supt Paul Forrester were present at the film's premiere.

Chair of Wirral's Education Committee, Cllr Mick Groves, said: "This video encourages children to talk about bullying and get the problem in the open, and it equips them with practical techniques to help them tackle bullies. We are proud of it, and particularly of the efforts of Park High School pupils, who have worked very hard on the film. We hope it will be a useful tool in the fight against playground bullies."
